To aid your design and/or facilitation
There’s absolutely no point in us re-inventing the wheel, so when we find a great website that has lots of useful resources in it, it seems sensible to capture it! Here are a few that are worth exploring.
Liberating Structures
A fantastic suite of engaging exercises that allow you to facilitate groups in a creative way. Not exercises, but techniques that you can apply to a wide range of subjects and situations. A firm favourite with VIP members.
Facilitating XYZ
There are some detailed guides and lots of downloads all associated with creative facilitation which you can use to include in your design, or just have up your sleeve when you’re facilitating. The link is to the articles page, but the downloads page is worth checking out too.
SessionLab
Not only is session lab a GREAT tool to use to design your training, it comes with lots and lots of ready-written exercises too. You MAY have to have an account, but it’s worth setting up the free trial if this is the case.
Free Management ebooks
If you need to get up to speed with a topic quickly or just want to make sure you’ve got a good grounding, check out these free ebooks on a range of management and leadership topics. They won’t help you to bring it to life, but it’s a great starter for content.
Catalogue of Training Exercises
This Airtable looks simple enough, but behind each of the entries is a whole website with a whole range of activities behind it. Some more than others, but whether you want an ice-breaker, energiser, some inspiration for your design or more ideas for virtual design and delivery, it’s well worth checking out. Thanks to Terry Pearce for sharing!
Skills Converged
A good collection of free articles and exercises covering a wide range of topics. Thank you Jon Britain for drawing them to our attention.
Team-Building Activities
Not all directly related to team-building – some are useful ice-breakers, link more to communication OR are aimed at building relationships between permanent team members (rather than exploring team working as a topic) but worth taking a look at!
ToolsHero
This website has curated detailed descriptions on lots of models and techniques including examples of what they mean and how they might be used. A very useful resource!
292 Training Activities
Some good ideas here – also some very scant descriptions and close similarities. A curated list of exercises so take care to check the links. One seemed to take me off elswhere, but useful for just shaking up thinking.
