Everyone loves a good template!
There’s no ‘best’ format to use, but here are word copies of the styles I’ve used for Course Outlines, Session Plans and Workbooks.
The Course Outline should give a 1-page snapshot of what your course is about and what it will cover. It’s an ‘at-a-glance’ overview that you can give to stakeholders/clients to show them what will be covered, AND it acts as a blueprint for your more detailed design.
And use the notes in our How to Design a Session Outline to help you to get it right first time
The Session Plan is the core of your course. It should detail exactly what will be covered and how, including details of how to run exercises, debrief activities and facilitate discussions.

The Delegate Workbook contains all the detailed information you want your delegates to take away. Providing them with detailed notes means that you won’t be tempted to put all your course on your slides, delegates won’t waste time capturing what you say when they should be participating, and stakeholders can be assured that all the relevant information has been provided.
You can play around with headers and footers to create a look that suits you. In this example, you can replace the front cover image, add your logo and change the colours. Make sure to use a SECTION BREAK (rather than a page break) and then click into the header and make sure that you deselect ‘Link to Previous’ or the changes you make will be carried forwards/backwards.
