Why does Training Design Take so LONG?

November 16, 2020How To Guides, TDC Blog, Training Design Tips and Templates, Video TipsNo Commentsadmin

It’s one of the most common questions asked by L&D practitioners – ESPECIALLY those who aren’t dedicated designers.

Does it REALLY take a long time?

What is normal?

Are you being inefficient or unrealistic?

What tips can help you to design training effectively and efficiently?

Well, in a series of videos, drip-fed in the Facebook Group, I shared my answers to this question and explain SIX common reasons why designing training might be taking longer than it should, or why you FEEL it’s taking longer than it should.

VIDEO 1 – It’s a lot like peeling onions

Answer 1 has a lot to do with onion…

VIDEO 2 – Sometimes you’ve got to turn left to go right

Wy adding in EXTRA design step may save you time in the long run

Video 3 – You’re starting in the wrong place

Take the most direct route and save time!

Video 4 – You don’t give it enough respect!

Give it the attention and respect it deserves or (like a needy toddler) it will keep bugging you!

Video 5 – You aren’t systematic

Have a plan! Tell others what it is, and (as much as possible) stick to it!

Video 6 – You expect too much of yourself
