There’s no RIGHT way to do a Training Needs Analysis – but there are wrong ways!
Many factors influence the way that we identify training needs:
- some jobs are well defined, whilst others are not
- some skills are mandatory, whilst others are nice to have
- some requirements are new (changing legislation for example) whilst others have been known for a long time
- some development needs are identified by an individual, whilst they may be oblivious to others
The fact is, that as training designers, we need to conduct a little investigation to uncover what those training needs are and then decide how we might help to meet them.
