Dear Training Designer’s Club: What should I do if I don’t have time to do a proper learning needs analysis?

We all know how important it is to conduct a learning needs analysis before beginning training design. But conducting that analysis can take a long time, and sometimes timescales simply don’t allow it. Or perhaps (if you are a supplier or freelancer) you aren’t given the opportunity to do that.

What should you do then?

Well, we don’t just guess or go with what we enjoy! There are still lots of useful things you can do – that don’t take a lot of time – that will help you to get it mostly right, most of the time.
