A good training workshop is NOT a jam-packed presentation sandwiched between an ice-breaker and Q&A session. It's an interactive experience that engages participants from beginning to end. But that activity isn't random. It's carefully considered and built into the fabric of the session to maximise learning and engagement.
Whether you're designing a course to deliver yourself, or creating something that others will deliver, producing a detailed design is critical to success. THIS BLOG explains 10 reasons why.
This course on designing training will help you to create an engaging training event that maximises learning and encourages the application of that learning back in the workplace, whether that training event is face-to-face or virtual. It's not about learning the theory; its a practical course that takes you on a step by step journey to allow you to design your own effective training workshop.
In particular, by completing the course you will be able to:
- Provide examples of what makes a training workshop engaging
- Explain Kolb’s Learning Cycle and what this means for training events
- Describe different communication modalities, and when and how these can be reflected in training events
- Explain what accelerated learning is and some of the principles to consider when creating engaging training events
- Describe and USE the MASTER structure to create an engaging training workshop
- Select appropriate training methods to bring learning to life and make it stick
- Decide upon the most relevant delegate materials to create and use to support your event
Included with the course are downloadable checklists, how-to guides and templates so you can design your own training course with confidence.
It's ideal if you have a training workshop to design as you work through the course, so that you can create it as you go. If not, you can learn all the principles so that when you DO need to design a learning event, you know how to do that to maximise impact and effectiveness.
Say goodbye to boring PowerPoint based courses that everyone forgets, and hello to engaging workshops that have a lasting impact.
Take the pressure off yourself by NOT having to create every session in the moment - know that you have a robust plan in advance and take all the stress out of delivery.
Stop worrying abut whether people will run your training sessions as you want them to, and give them the tools they need to succeed.
Get your design right, and the rest will follow.
What's the Format?
The course is video led, and is supplemented with short exercises and downloads. You will need to set aside about 3 hours in total to complete the course - but you don't need to do it all at once. In fact, it's better is you use it to guide you through your own training design, stopping and restarting at key stages.
The course assumes that you have done your initial consultation/analysis AND scoped out your content at a top line, and have an outline to work from. The Plan an Effective Training Session Course takes you through this process, so you may find it useful to complete that first - though it isn't essential.
